Thought piece: is it time for post-policy government?
In the past we've called it 'policy'. But I don't think that's the right word any more.

We blogged back in December about the user research we were doing as part of a Discovery phase around how the department runs digital consultations. Since then we've wrapped up the project and are cracking on with the next steps, but first here’s the how, what and why of what's been done so far.
Today we're making the code for the Department of Health’s intranet available for free to anyone who wants to copy it. With one small request:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTQl_GMcpy8&feature=youtu.be In November 2014, the digital team held its first ever Digital Show & Tell for our colleagues in the Department.
During 2014, we’ve been pushing the digital capability message pretty hard. (Summary: don’t be scared, it’s the same internet you have at home, now go do clever stuff.) So it’s nice to have a number to put on the progress we’ve made.
What would encourage you to respond to a digital consultation?
We've just published an update to our digital strategy.
I get excited when I notice something change for the better. Even more so when that change was made possible by the internet.
One month ago we launched the Department's new intranet, including our new PolicyKit, in a fanfare of public sector savings, staff satisfaction, and another big win for small UK digital businesses.
We're planning a teaching session on digital for Will Cavendish our new DG for innovation, growth and technology.
