The focus of this policy is use of social media by policy officials as part of the policy making process.
The department has a permissive approach to the use of social media, empowering staff to conduct aspects of their work openly, with all the benefits that brings.
But social media presents new challenges to government and the policy making process, because by it’s nature, it tends to involve relationships between named individuals, and conversations conducted openly, often in public.
