Last year I wrote some basic guidance on navigating the digital spending controls following the introduction of new spend thresholds by the Government Digital Service (GDS).
Since then the DH Digital team has been working closely with GDS and our arm's length bodies (ALBs) to develop more detailed guidance, to help support the many varied projects through the approvals process.
This document: Digital spend controls guidance: issue 2 sets out what the digital controls are, the application journey, and what the assessment process entails.
We will continue to update this guidance based on further clarifications from GDS and your feedback, so please continue to provide comments and input. We are particularly interested in areas that you feel could be expanded or topics that are not yet covered.
We are also supplementing this guidance with regular blogs from the DH Digital team and guest blogs from some of our ALB digital leads, and we're starting to collect examples of good practice that can be shared.
